Mahwah Youth Baseball Weather Rescheduling Policy and Process

Purpose
The safety of our players, coaches, and families is our top priority. This policy outlines how weather-related decisions are made and communicated.
Field Closure Decisions

• TMYSB will make all field status decisions on weekdays by 3:30 PM.
• Decisions are based on field conditions, weather forecasts, and player safety (rain, lightning, extreme heat, etc.).
• Once fields are closed, no practices or games may take place.

Communication Process

1. TMYSB communicates field status to League Commissioners.
2. League Commissioners notify all Coaches.
3. Coaches are responsible for notifying their teams via TeamSnap.

Please ensure your contact information in TeamSnap is up to date to receive timely notifications.
Weekend & Game Day Updates

• For weekend games or rapidly changing weather conditions, updates may be made closer to game time.
• Coaches should monitor communication channels and be prepared for last-minute updates.

During Activities (Lightning / Unsafe Conditions)

• If thunder or lightning is observed, all activities must be immediately suspended.
• Players and spectators should seek safe shelter.
• Activities may only resume after 30 minutes without thunder or lightning.

Coach Discretion

• In cases where weather conditions worsen after a field is deemed open, coaches may suspend or cancel activities if they feel conditions are unsafe.
• Safety should always take precedence over completing a game or practice.

Makeups & Rescheduling

• Cancelled games and practices may be rescheduled at the discretion of the league.
• Coaches will communicate any makeup dates once confirmed.
