General Information:
What bats can you use?Mahwah Youth Baseball’s recreation program is banning composite bats at the Minors, Pee Wee, Instructional and Tee Ball levels. The Little League Baseball organization on Dec. 30, 2010, placed a moratorium on the use of composite bats. While Mahwah Youth Baseball’s recreation program isn’t affiliated with Little League Baseball, the group has decided to adhere to Little League’s ban at these age levels. Some composite bats have received a waiver from Little League Baseball and those bats will be permitted in Mahwah’s recreation program at the Minors, Pee Wee, Instructional and Tee Ball levels. A list of composite bats that have received waivers can be found at the following links. Note that some bats are not full compsosite bats, so review the lists carefully. These lists are subject to change and are outside the control of Mahwah baseball.

The ban on composite bats affects Mahwah Youth Baseball’s recreation program. Whether or not the moratorium is in effect for travel baseball is dependent on each individual travel league. Some North Jersey travel leagues, or tournaments are allowing the use of composite bats, while others are not. If your child makes a travel team, the travel team coach will inform you if the league has placed a ban on composite bats. Mahwah Youth Baseball will keep parents informed of any changes to our rulings or the guidelines from Little League Baseball.
